Why DADS?
If you want information
DADS groups can be a great source of information and tools to help you in your own situation. This information can range from finding local resources for childcare, to help in balancing work and family demands. Dads can find help from men in groups, as we all have been there at some time. With DADS, a hand from a mate is always there in time of need - that's the Aussie way we grew up with - so come on board and make a difference to your life and others'.
If you want friendship
Some dads link up to a group because they feel isolated. Maybe they want to be more a part of things going on around them, but don't know how to make the connection with other men. A DADS group can be the way to find that companionship.
If you want support when the going gets tough
Some dads affiliate with a group because of a particular crisis. For example, men recently widowed, or divorced dads who have children with a certain disability or there is a personal challenge that is unique. If you feel the need for support and some direction to help you get on track, come along and spend time with other dads.
Face-to-face or online
DADS groups can take many forms. Groups can be in your own neighbourhood or community - and those face-to-face personal group experiences are great. They offer both one-on-one connections and the benefit of a group situation that can provide a whole range of information and ideas. Groups tend to be informal and free-wheeling; frequently meeting at a restaurant, in a hotel or wherever the group members decide.
But some men prefer to join a virtual support group online. The online experience opens the group to a much broader range of men from diverse backgrounds and offers anonymity that can be helpful in some circumstances. By participating online you can post questions, share experiences, respond to concerns from other men and link up with dads across the globe. We provide this opportunity through our DADS forum.
